Renee Sears & The Jazz Set
Rich Austin & The Maestros
Rich first picked up a guitar at aged 19 and played intermittently between university work and socialising. At aged 25, he studied guitar at ACM in Guildford which provided him with the skills to play and teach guitar professionally.
For the next few years, Rich gained confidence playing other peoples' songs in local bars and pubs, and commenced a 'write a song a week to avoid a £30 fine' contract with his housemate, resulting in several completed songs, the first of which was 'same time'. Rich currently teaches guitar, plays in his band Rich Austin and the Maestros, playing weddings and functions. The superfunky rhythm section; Dan Western (drums), Rory Davidson (bass) create the backdrop for Rich's tasty guitar work and vocals, lending their brilliant playing to his album (due July 2011). In his spare time, Rich writes heartfelt, honest and humorous lyrics, drawn from dreams and life, creating engaging tunes you'll remember long after the song is done. His music catches you off guard and his lyrics tell stories of family life, childhood growing up and relationships.www.myspace.com/richaustinandthemaestros

Rewind to 2007, 3 guys sit down in a flat in reliance way (off Cowley road Oxford). The discussion is forming a band that can shake up the Oxford metal scene. Ross (Guitar, Vocals), Ed (Drums) and Marc (Lead Guitar, production) soon start to write material. After some initial screening and line up changes including trying separate vocalist and different bassists we finally found the perfect chemistry and sound with Ross taking on the Vocal and Rhythm guitar duties and Chris coming in on bass. After a years intense writing the RiB sound grew very organically. The sound was taken out on the road in 2009 and since then the band has been gigging in London, Leicester, Swindon and Oxford. Including playing the second round of the surface Unsigned festival, the prestigious Oxford Punt and headline gigs at the wheatsheaf. The long awaited CiRCLE album is due out late 2010/early 2011. However you can sample some track from this album on our myspace and FB pages. Here's to the future.
Riverhart is a pastiche of soul, art and life of middle class britain in the twenty-first century, bridging gaps of traditional and modern music, based on folk, pop and classical. Believing first hand that existence is a series of events strung together through memory, Riverhart hopes to provide somewhat of a backing track to these moments. Download and keep, listen on good headphones and take it wherever you go. His name is Alexander George Gill, he was born in the Royal Berkshire Hospital on a cold January morning in 1989. Earliest memories include warm kitchens listening to the Smiths, country drives with Debussy and Mahler, television evenings with popular culture. He has learnt many instruments over my years, saxphone, guitar, piano, you name it and he's probably sat down with it at some point. He studied music from an early age, from primary school into secondary school and sixth form, and then into university where he left to pursue a life of music unchained by form and unrestricted by archaic technicalities. This is the open road of life and I thank you for being his companion on this journey.
Rob Berry During my youth I started playing classical piano at the age of 7, but this soon came to an end after a Dr Feelgood gig , I was addicted to the blues guitar, from this I went on to do all the usual teenage band stuff, playing guitar and keys in Night Clubs & Pubs. Later on a Studio opened on the Island of Bermuda and I landed a job as a recording engineer, this led to me engineering on Keith Richards 'Talk is Cheap' album produced by Steve Jordan (that was a blast…whew!!). In '90 I returned to the UK and landed an engineering job in a top London mixing studio, ’ Swanyard Studios’, from here I got to work alongside of some of the best producers and engineers in London, including Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine), Jazzy B (Soul to Soul), Adamski’s ‘Killer’remixes, Bernie Sumner(New Order), Johnny Marr(Smiths) and Andy Farris ( INXS) just to name a few. After some time the manic long hours took their toll and I really wanted to be a player not a tech so I left the studio and pursued my passion for playing, with my contacts in the studio business, I began to do session work on guitar for the likes of Tom Robinson, Chris White’s(Dire Straits Sax player with Pino Paladino) solo album and many other up and coming artists. In 1994 I worked at Earls Court as a guitar demonstrator for JHS, the distributors for Jackson and Encore Guitars. I also developed a busy schedule of regular solo gigs in pubs in West London and the South East. In the mid 90’s I headed back to Bermuda for a summer gig in the tourist resorts and Pubs, this was fun , too much fun and the holiday turned into a 13 year stay until, for family reasons, I returned to the UK in 2007. Since returning I have completed three albums that are selling well at my gigs and I have begun developing regular bookings as a solo artist in Pubs in and around the South East. www.robberry.com

I started singing and playing acoustic guitar about 3 years ago self taught, I also started writing songs around the same time. I started singing because my mum's friends son used too. After hearing it, I really wanted to write songs and play.
Before any of this happened though, I bought an electric guitar with 4 strings for 15 pound at a car bootsale. I noodled around on it, but couldn't get into it, which is why I started on acoustic. Now I'm just trying to get as many gigs as I can, and get my name out there, and hopefully one day make it as a musician.

Sarah Tonin Born of a meeting of minds and influences, Sarah Tonin is the creation of Chris Parris and Phil Wakeman, whose songwriting dynamic fuses majestic guitar lines with catchy pop sensibilities to form a delectable psych-folk bubble. It is the collaboration of the two frontmen’s introspective musings that is paramount in crafting the intricate sound and compelling lyrics of the band. Sarah Tonin goes on to star the talents of Matt Benny (Drums), Becky Nock (Keys) and Joe Cox (Bass), in a shared pursuit of beauty in melody. All bands members interweave their voices to provide Sarah Tonin’s trademark soaring harmonies, by turns twisted and uplifting. The Tonin paint expansive dreamscapes reminiscent of The Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Love and The Beatles. The band have enjoyed gigging in London and featuring at festivals this year and 2010 promises more of the same, with the addition of live recordings of new material, in particular an upcoming EP. www.myspace.com/sarahtoninuk

Moody, atmospheric and mesmerising, Scattered Few aren't afraid to defy genre by creating a sound that even the most discerning of musicians would find hard to pinpoint. And with influences ranging from Zero 7 to Metallica, it's easy to see why. This Reading based acoustic duo break through modern classifications of music, creating a totally unique sound palette with riffs ranging from soothingly soft ambience to mellow psychedelia with heart warming vocals.

Second Storey Ruin
Second Storey Ruin are a Rock band from Reading, Berks, UK. The band were formed in early 2007 when Steve Smith left his old punk-rock band and started concentrating on his own material. In late Jan 2007 Steve met up with Jack Painting, a drummer from Brighton that was currently studying at Reading University they went to there first practise with Ben Head a bassist from Maidenhead the band rehearsed for a month or so with another guitarist and started recording some material, it was then the band realised they had something special. Towards September 2007 the band went through a line-up change, Ben moved to lead guitar and Martin Wiggall moved in on bass as the band said goodbye to thier former guitarist. The band continued to rehearse and write material and it was clear they had established a strong line-up and went on to get Radio play and winning various demo panels and gigging all over England. As for the future the band are set to record a new album, play a few festivals and October / November the band will play there 1st FULL UK TOUR with Bitter Conflict at such Venues as Barfly Camden & Glasgow, Brighton Concorde, Turnbridge Wells Forum. http://www.myspace.com/secondstoreyruin
Secret Fridge Party They have been making quite big waves this year and are definitely one of the local acts to watch out for in 2010!" - Chivalry Is D**d Since playing their first gigs in 2009, "Secret Fridge Party" have been brewing and setting a unique drive of catchy rhythms and deep bass with a very mixed genre of influences. Sharing the front role are Rob and David. These two guitarists on vocals met each other at local pub gigs. Their combination of both acoustic and electric talents means a continual sharing role of lead and rhythm guitar, often changing mid-song. Having re-met David at a new years party in 2004, Chris hits out a toned bass line, influenced by some of the greatest bassists over the last two decades. Joe makes up the foursome. His influence of drum and bass, along with his own creative abilities brings a controlled rhythm emphasising the groups' tones... whatever the speed or noise level! "Plenty of wallop is given to each track with highlight's being 'Lock Down', 'Illusion', 'He Said No' and 'In Denial' with plenty of nice details displayed in each track. At the rate these guys are progressing, they'll soon be headlining their own gigs!" Bermuda Square Effect Music Magazine "The low-fi grunge with a slight punk edge gave a good dirty sound that straight away got peoples attention! A tight band who played a good set which hinted at a more mature and interesting cannon of future songs". Mr Egg - Basingstoke Music Magazine http://www.myspace.com/secretfridgeparty
Secret Rivals "A frantic frenzy of a glue-sniffing punk hurricane: all untidy, but full of attitude" Fierce Panda "Danceable, tune-laden punk... their undisciplined yet committed style brought back memories of the Pixies' 'Bone Machine' with Black Francis and Kim Deal stumbling boozily over each other's lines" (Oxfordbands.com)
"Storming...like Hot Hot Heat produced by Sonic Youth" (Quickfix Recordings) "a screeling, scraling blast of shrill fuzz-punk that alternately sounds like Bis played at double speed with all the tunes filleted with a pick-axe handle and replaced by extra shouting, or Huggy Bear played at double speed, falling down a mountain while being eaten feet-first by rabid otters...such is their frenzied simplicity we can’t help but enjoy them" (Nightshift Magazine) ''Now regardless of what others spit, no other band in Oxford sounds like Secret Rivals or does what they do so well…they are so energetic on stage they actually power the lights and PA system. They are rough, raw, and ready" (Three Blind Mice Promotions) "Shouty, shambolic, lazy, energetic, melodic, contemplative, abrupt, it’s not healthy, it's not, it's not. Did I say catchy? Secret Rivals are why it’s good to start a band" (Jim Bowes, Josaka.com) www.myspace.com/secretrivalsband

has spent the last two years defining his unique sound and writing catchy acoustic songs. After performing around the Berkshire area regularly, in mid 2009 Ricky decided to grab some media attention by entering BBC Introducing. Ricky’s first entry ‘OK Corral’ won BBC Introducing and received huge appraise with a whopping 9/10 from the presenter, comparing it to Bon Ivor.
Early 2010 saw Ricky continuously adding to his catalogue of songs, writing ‘Swing Away’ to enter BBC Introducing again, to win a second time. Being described as ‘a great summer/feel good song’. After such success Ricky decided it was time to give birth to the September Gun of today, bringing in Tom, Ash and Andy to complete the current line-up. The Band have spent the last few months preparing to hit the media and start playing shows across the UK in late 2010. The recent win of BBC Introducing led to the band being asked to perform at a BBC Introducing show, Oakford Social Club, Reading. They have also supported Pete Lawrie (Island Records) and played at some amazing venues already, including the Monto Water Rats, 229, Bull and Gate and 100 Club. This is to be the start of a long journey for the band who, after such positive media feedback definitely have something unique and special to offer. The band plan to make themselves known for their hard work and commitment to their music and fans alike.
" Sevasa" was born from a
conversation at the Purple Turtle, in Reading Town centre, in the summer
of 2006. The band were formed on the agreement that we would produce
music "that we would buy". After 18 months of writing and rehearsing in a
room with beer drenched carpets and an air-conditioning unit that smelt
of piss, Sevasa played their First Gig at the Star pub in Caversham,
the opening chapter of the musical chronicle.
are now well established on the Berkshire music scene, and embraced by
their many followers for their catalogue of anthem-esque tunes, having
headlined sell out gigs at Barfly, Camden, Jericho Oxford, Half Moon
Putne and also headlining Basingstoke Live in 2009.
2010 the band gave the music scene a break as they increased their fan
base with 2 newly born members, and in the autumn of 2011 they decided
to get back onto and into the gigging. They added a 4th member, and
continued to write new material, and now see's the relaunch of Sevasa in
2012, exciting times lie ahead for the straight forward no nonsense
indie rock n roll outfit
A little over 4 years ago Seven Caves formed in the middle of rural England. With little more than an acoustic guitar, some words scribbled on a sheet of paper and a Scottish voice they decided that they would write some songs to cure the boredom of what the English countryside had to offer. Having played with signed acts such as Editors, DOGS, Mexicola's and headlining some of the best venues the country has to offer we released a single 'I don't wanna know' through Diffusion Records in Feb 09. May 09 saw us hosted on Ben Shermans official website as their 'Best of British' unsigned acts and our songs '44' and 'Apollo 13' subsequently was the backing music for their autumn/winter campaign. In Feb 2010 we are going to be releasing our 4 track EP 'The Key' on all major download sites. www.myspace.com/sevencaves
ShadowKeep are a signed, progressive power metal band with three albums to their credit and an 11-year history including supports for Ronnie James Dio, Halford and Symphony X. They are also veterans of festivals across Europe and America – including Bloodstock in the UK. Now they’re back with powerful new frontman Matt Oakman – and ready to rip it up.
ShadowKeep were formed in 1999 by guitarists Chris Allen and Nikki Robson. That October, with vocalist Rogue M, they recorded a six-track EP at Thin Ice Studios, produced by Threshold guitarist Karl Groom. Their opus Dark Tower became the opener on a German mag’s CD for unsigned bands – and gained them a record deal with Limb Music Productions in June 2000. Two albums, Corruption Within and A Chaos Theory, followed to huge acclaim. The band soon gained support slots with Ronnie James Dio, Halford, Symphony X, Dream Evil plus Flotsam And Jetsam. These major shows led to appearances at festivals in the UK, America, Germany and Holland. Their touring had one benefit – the arrival of Texas bassist Stony Grantham. But other line-up changes held things up. Undeterred, ShadowKeep started work on third album The Hourglass Effect – again with Karl Groom at Thin Ice. The sessions produced some of Chris and Nikki’s most creative songwriting. And the band gained singer Richie Wicks, ex Tygers Of Pan Tang and AngelWitch, plus drummer Omar Hayes. Things were looking up, with a new recording deal from Dutch label Melissa Records and Hourglass’s release in November 2008. The album was praised for its concise songs, soaring vocals and grand production. A reviewer from The Sun dubbed ShadowKeep “the new New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.” But fate had one more card to play. Wicks left in 2009, soon replaced by the formidable Matt Oakman. ShadowKeep endured frustration over the years but also produced superlative studio work and exciting stage shows. Now they’re back – and poised to take on the world!!! Lineup: Vocals -- Matt Oakman Guitars -- Chris Allen Guitars -- Nikki Robson Bass -- Stony Grantham (US), Mark Fielden (UK) Keyboards -- Scott Collins Drums -- Omar Hayes http://www.myspace.com/shadowkeepuk Shannon Wardrop
Shannon Wardrop is an 18 year old singer/songwriter/guitarist from Maidenhead, just outside of London. Inspired by rhythm and blues from the 60's, Shannon's aim is to infuse and portray her influences from bands such as The Who, The Small Faces, and The Rolling Stones with more modern bands such as The Last Shadow Puppets and Florence and The Machine.
Formerly the singer/lead guitarist in all-girl band,'The Mardies', Shannon sings of young love, mythology and a long for freedom, with reverb effects on her 1984 authentic Stratocaster and vocals, described as 'haunting'.
Oxford based Pop-Punk band Shattered Dreams take their
authentic punk sound (Nightshift 2010) and combine it with a modern day twist.
Having established themselves in Oxford with many gigs including the O2 Academy
and more recently gaining critical acclaim from Nightshift as their November
demo of the month, Shattered Dreams are building upon an already successful
year. Members Steph Branch- Vocals, James Macke- Lead Guitar, Matt Oliver-
Bass, James Coulson- Drums have combined to form a unique, gritty old school
sounding Pop-Punk band with all the trimmings. EP "Lessons Through
Living" build upon the solid foundations and shows the band have embraced
their Punk roots while making their "music pleasing and catchy to all who
listen" (Bitchslap Fanzine 2010). Having secured endorsement from Dovetail
strings the band is in position of both good musical and market strength making
2011 a year that will see the band move from strength to strength.
Despite the development of rationality and reason, with its blatant benefits, enlightened minds find beauty in the unknown, the undiscovered. Shilling Shockers, a three-piece rock group from Oxford, are a band of this philosophy. Brought together by a technological revolution in communication, the three musicians experiment with ideas both ancient and contemporary, empirical and ephemeral. Their mix of melody and modernity and a knowledge or past blues, punk and alternative greatness creates something rather good. They will entertain you with an experience based on the innate ideas of rock and roll with a dark mystic belly. Shilling Shockers are a new, uncontrollable revelation.www.myspace.com/shillingshockersmusic
Based in Berkshire Shine were formed in 2009. With over the 100 years of musical experience between them the five piece band celebrate the rock, pop and indie anthems of the last 20 years. Helen’s haunting vocals bring a contemporary twist to classics from Oasis to Guns & Roses and Nirvana. Modern classis from Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and Muse are given the Shine treatment. Dance till you drop to tracks from the Ting Tings, Pink & Rhiana. Already firmly established in Reading’s pub, party and festival circuit if you need a band to rock your evening, and if you can find them, let it Shine!
“Andy on drums is only a paradidle away from being the finest drummer of his generation” – NME
“After 20 years of waiting Ash on bass may just finally be the rightful air to the bass playing crown left vacant when Craig from Bros hung up his four string.” – Melody Maker
“The Lord moves in mysterious ways! How else could the voice of an angel reside in Sean, a little fat bloke from Manchester?” – Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury

Shoot For The King
3 piece rock band formed in summer 2010 by Lewis, Paul and Ash, who have just finished recording the bands first studio album which will be avalible on itunes in February.
We are not going to waffle on about what type of music we are or any of that crap all you need to do is listen to the tracks on our face book and myspace and see for yourself. And if you like it maybe download the album from itunes ( would be nice of you ) and come watch us live.
Shuffle is a covers band whose set list reflects the random way your MP3 player chooses the songs it plays. We play the cream of pop/rock tunes plucked from the 70s, 80s, 90s and the noughties. So, you’ll hear Dido’s ‘White Flag’ followed by Rod Stewart’s ‘First Cut Is The Deepest’, the Kaiser Chiefs’ ‘Ruby’ followed by ‘Let’s Stick Together’, the Roxy Music classic.
The gig will have its surprises, too. ‘Dead Flowers’, a little-known country-tinged Rolling Stones song bounces along nicely, while Billie’s lesser single ‘Honey To The Bee’ adds a fun, mellow element to the flow. The angel-voiced Hannah sings most of the songs, and plays sax, too. The fellas in the front line add harmonies when required. There’s Tony on bass, the transposing genius; Dean on lead guitar, master of the melody; Philip on rhythm guitar - doesn’t want to make it cry or sing; and Les at the back, on his flat-packed drum kit.
"London has enjoyed a long and stirring rock 'n roll tradition and Shush appears ready, willing, and more than able to add another exciting chapter to their home town's noble rock history book owing to the fact that they sport one of the most talented singers and unconventional songwriters currently operating within a hard rock context. Milena has been touring for the past 8 years with bands like Antiproduct, Marky Ramone and Sinnerstar playing guitar, keyboards and vocals at festivals such as Ozzfest, Beautiful Day, Rock and Blues and Bulldog Bash. Andy has recorded and produced bands like Vince Ray, TAT, The Loyalties, The Grit, Vamps 'n Gypsies and King Lizard. He also plays guitar for Maccara and has shared the stage with bands like Status Quo and Uriah Heep. Bassist Dean also plays with London hard rock outfit Subterranea. Shush released their E.P. On 5th May 2008 with distribution from Cargo throughout the U.K, Japan and Online. The resulting musical brew is a true feast for the senses, blending bold, strident guitar power along with vocal fury, pounding bass and thundering drums. This is rock 'n roll that stands head and shoulders above today's field of cookie-cutter rock practitioners. From the first note to the last, this is a disc that shows a band in control of the full spectrum of rock 'n roll ingredients and is designed to send those proverbial shivers racing up and down your spine. They are currently recording their début album due for release later this year. This is modern rock with a sense of danger and beauty that's been missing for far too long."
Silent Blockade Silent Blockade started in January 2010 when they all appeared in a puff of cheap, special effects. When the smoke cleared Tim, John and Chris found themselves in a rehearsal studio in Hurst. They found Greg down the back of a sofa. He claimed he could play a bit of bass, and they were all quite surprised when he could. As rehearsals went on, realisations came about. Not only could Greg play a bit of bass, but John gained the nickname 4-bar-John, as that's how many bars it takes after the end of the song, before he stops playing. Soon the whole band realised they had a diety in their mist. Tim looked like Jesus. Or Zeus. Any one with a beard and long hair really. Chris fronts the band on his guitar and vocals, which is unusual when he's the biggest ass of the band! Once they decided being an Abba tribute was not the way forward, they rebelled against the current stagnant trents of modern music and go on to create guitar driven, melodic rock. Now they spend most of their rehearsals smoking, drinking, sweating and creating mind-blowing, eargasm rock! http://www.silentblockade.co.uk/
Silent Blockade are: Chris Oblein - Guitar and Lead Vocals, John Harmsworth - Lead Guitar, Greg Forys - Bass, Tim Doyle - Drums Chris lists his influences as Led Zepplin, Paul Weller, Pink Floyd, Queen, Damien Rice and The Clash. John lists his influences as Jimmy Page, Black Stone Cherry, Ted Nugent and Richie Sambora. Greg lists his influences as Bad Manners, Captain Everything, Snuff, Rancid and Nofx. Tim lists his influences as Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Alien Ant Farm, Keith Moon and Steve Smith.

as he felt he know longer had the time or commitment to the band which
paved the way for current drummer Rhys Coombs to join making the Current

Black Stone Cherry to name but a few. So if you want to see this band

and London. To see a SilvaTone show is to see music at its rawist and

Having formed only as recently as Summer 2010, these six musicians have encompassed, through hard work and desire, a sound unique from other live bands. Borrowing styles and songs from the past greats, they have managed to rekindle the sweat and passion so necessary for real live performance.
Drawing on many years of experience playing with acts locally, nationally and globally, these Surrey-based musicians decided to merge their skills and abilities in order to create something new and extraordinary. Using strong vocals and a powerful brass section as the cream on top of a rock solid, hard-hitting rhythm section, The SkaSouls have certainly rediscovered the formula to ignite the music scene once again.
No sampled sounds here! The original sounds and mixes from the Jamaican ska and Stax days of the 60’s and 70’s (Toots & The Maytals, Prince Buster etc) are perfectly merged with the urban ska standards of the late 70’s and early 80’s (Specials, Bad Manners, Madness etc), and the rock/soul anthems of bands, such as Dexy’s, Teardrop Explodes, The Clash and Pig Bag, to name a few. The guys are, at present, also in the process of writing their own material and will be introducing these new songs to their set over the forthcoming months. Endeavouring to keep energy levels sky-high, each live show is different from the last, with the interaction on-stage, and between stage and audience always something to enjoy. Aiming to create a non-stop tapestry of great, danceable music for everyone, The SkaSouls are a must for any live event. http://www.theskasouls.com/
The UK's only acoustic Ska band!!

Sleeping With Giants "Oxford have Radiohead, Bristol have Massive Attack, now Swindon have Sleeping With Giants" says Oasis keyboard player Mike Rowe. And this indie-rock 5-piece certainly have that kind of potential with the release of their debut album, Old English History, featuring Massive Attack guitarist Angleo Bruschini. Fresh from Radio 1s big weekend, Sleeping with Giants are being tipped as one of the bands to watch for 2010. Anthemic songs, intriguing lyrics and a captivating live performance are propelling this band into into the spotlight. "We're not your typical band. For us, it's all about getting the details right, working on the vocals in particular, and it really makes a difference for the live show", says Robbie Richings, lead singer with the band. The attention to detail certainly has an impact with their energetic live shows, making Sleeping With Giants a must-see band over the next year. 'Old English History' was released on September 14th and is available from all online stores including iTunes.http://www.myspace.com/sleepingwithgiantsmusic
Sleep Room are a 4 piece English alternative rock band from in and around the Reading, Berkshire area.. Their influences include a diverse range of bands, most notably Joy Division, Sigur Rós, Elbow and Pink Floyd. Sleep Room take their name from the conspiratorial brainwashing technique allegedly used by the CIA in the early 70's which involved sensory deprivation and sub-conscious behavioural response to sound. To date, Sleep Room have made 4 studio albums the latest of which was recorded in November 2009 and released in March 2010. This latest recording is entitled ‘Gone’ and was recorded, mixed, produced and mastered in an exhausting three days at Earth Terminal Studios in Odiham, it was completed with the help of producer Lewis Childs, who we feel has more than done the band’s material justice with his ear for and understanding of sound. The latest album ‘Gone’ is the result of Sleep Room spending many months in their studio engineering their ideas into technical and moving pieces of music. A great deal of thought, sweat and tears has culminated in a flowing, cohesive, unique and intelligent piece of work they are very proud of and hope you will like.
Plays blues infused music be it a down home old style delta feel to a rip roaring electro like garage blues using loops and found grooves. he also uses his much maligned stomp-board to drive the rhythm along. He has supported acts such as The Black Keys, Agnostic Mountain Choir, C.W Stoneking, & Jem Finer (The Pogues) and can be caught either in a solo capacity or with The Southdowners (drums, bull fiddle bass and harmonica) who thicken up an already lively sound. Slims tunes have found there way on to the radio and TV (BBC1, CH 4 & Radio 2) as well as countless plays on stations in the States and abroad.
MINDFUL OF THE FUTURE WITH ONE FOOT IN THE PAST!

"SMASH ROBOTS are the best new power pop band in town..." was the claim made by Velocity Recordings after hearing the band's debut tracks, and who are we to argue with them! The town they are referring to is Reading in Berkshire where this high-energy three piece band converge to make their own particular brand of British Pop-Rock.
The first thing that hits you is their sense of fun and and the second thing is that they sound so fresh. Imagine putting The Fratelli's, Vampire Weekend and Elvis Costello into an ice cream van and driving it full throttle off the white cliffs of Dover..." Juicy guitar riffs, strong vocal melodies and songs so infectious you'll be humming them for days after a single play. Consisting of Rafael Aldon on guitars/keyboard and vocals, Richard Paine on bass and vocals and David Tyler on drums the band first formed in February 2006. "We just wanted to make bloody good music" explains Raf who writes a lot of their material. Two years on, and only after a 'Rocky' style video montage later, our protagonists have broken free from the confines of their locked rehersal rooms, hardened and ready, wielding sticks and guitars. You find them on the run, suffering from amnesia, and with a point to prove that they just cant remember. So If you have a problem and nobody else can solve it.... maybe....just maybe...its time you rocked out with SMASH ROBOTS http://www.smashrobots.com/fr_index.cfm
Soon To Be Ghosts Formed back in August 2006 STBG were formed by lead singer TG and lead guitarist Nick wanting to form their own band. Later we acquired the services of keyboard player Jon and Guitarist/Bassist Pat. Our goals are to write groovy tunes with honest lyrics that speak for everyone and to be a gang with guitars. Dave has rejoined us on the drums and completes the original line up. We have also acquired the services of Andy Newett as our promoter and Pele as security/provider of things
I’ve been writing and performing for about 5 years now, with one of my more high profile gigs being for the England Rugby Team.2009 was a very busy year for gigging and recording. I also performed live on BBC Radio Berkshire and Guildford’s 96.4 The Eagle. I have recently supported One Eskimo, Hamilton Loomis and The Duretti Column. My main aim now is to take over the world! ha ha "Firstly was Sophie Henderson, another acoustic act to open the night. Like her friend Mr Stephan Long, Sophie has a knack for writing perfectly beautiful songs. It was a joy to listen to her sing in a night that my stress levels and blood pressure might have caused some permanent health problems. A perfect voice singing songs of meaning and warmth come from this local beauty and I can't help but thank her for calming me with her melodic excellence. Thank you Sophie!" Joe Ginman-Velocity Events 8/5/07 "Just 2 songs from ONSA newcomer Sophie tonight. This was pure quality though and a great way to start the night. The haunting and melodic 'Cry' (with guitar) and the excellent 'High Flyer' showing off Sophie's piano skills. She's a natural musician and we'll hopefully be welcoming her back soon." Songwriter and performer Sophie Stokes has just finished her A levels and is now planning a one woman, musical assault on Cornwall and the UK. She popped in to BBC Radio Cornwall for an interview and to showcase her Soul sound with David White. Solo artist Sophie is well and truly a one woman outfit, writing singing and accompanying her songs on Piano or Guitar.
Sound Escape SOUNDESCAPE was formed in North London in 2008 as a result of a drunken night out…Mitch Gasser and Andreas Neuner decided that forming a rock band and taking over the world was the way to go (ok, maybe just the rock band bit), so the hunt was on for the rest of the band. The next day we added Alberto Danelli on the Bass guitar and shortly after we took on hard hitting drummer Jerry Sadowsky. Along the way we stumbled upon Colm Walsh whose fingers of fury on the mixing desk together with his dynamic vocals made him a dead set for the band and completed our line up. Life for all of us has always been about playing music, initially for the fun of it and to charm women, but with us all being from small towns and the ladies obviously not appreciating our ‘musical talent’ we all realized that our best shot was to move to London. Now here we are, studying for music degrees and relying on a rock band to pay the bills. Since getting together we have made an impact on the London circuit playing at some of the city’s most popular live venues such as THE BARFLY, THE BULL AND GATE, THE UNDERWORLD and THE BORDERLINE. We have recently had airplay on 18+ radio stations in the UK, America, Canada, Germany, Spain and Australia such as AR FM, Head Case Radio, NAB Radio, Radio Positive, Heart FM Spain and more. Please go to our blog to have a look at all of them. Our plans for 2009/2010 include the recording and release of the band’s debut album, playing more gigs around London and a 2010 European tour (details coming soon!). The bands website will be on it’s way shortly with more detailed information about the band, photos, videos and so on and band merchandise will also be available soon as many of you have asked about t-shirts so watch this space!http://www.myspace.com/soundescapetheband

Having retired from a successful kickboxing career, looking to replace the hole martial arts left, Baz threw his energy into learning the bass.Together with his wife Maxine was part of the covers band Hot Machero and then Stone Jesters which eventually led on to them forming Spriggan Mist in 2008. Over the years Baz has progressed from the back line and in the shake up of band members in 2011 took on more of the singing duties and has even written and co written some of the sprig’s songs. Ever enthusiastic always driven and this reflects in Baz’s on stage performance.
As a child Maxine used to hide in her bedroom with dodgy recording systems all hooked up together to try to recreate Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells. Her Dad used to bring home all different instruments for her to try out, one week a piano accordion and another a Mandolin Banjo this built her large repertoire of playing all kinds of instruments. Max played traditional and classical music on the Clarinet throughout her teens with the occasional blast of Glen Miller and Acker Bilk, she even performed in shows but her passion was always wanting to write and record songs. After a stint in a college band playing Sax playing Motown and then a huge break from music, she was encouraged to start playing the sax and electric guitar again by husband Baz. This lead to the formation of the covers bands Hot Machero and Stone Jesters and then her own compositions stated to emerge.... and Spriggan Mist evolved. Still with a great passion for unusual instruments and writing songs about life, spirit and so Max likes to remain perspicacious in some aspects of her song writing so the listener can interpret how they need to feel. She believes that if you are down and sad .. singing is uplifting for mind body and soul and when she finds a window of opportunity, sound therapy healing is what she would like to study.
Bex is a classically trained cellist and recorder player. She started playing the piano at 3 years old, and the cello and recorder at the age of seven. She joined the Newham Academy of Music and became a member of the choir, recorder group and string ensemble. She later moved to Harrow where she joined the Harrow School for Young Musicians. She has performed at various concert venues around the UK and abroad including the Royal Albert and Queen Elizabeth halls. As a member of Spriggan Mist she is enjoying very different challenges and environments from those of her previous experiences. Spriggan Mist's newest member Colin, has had a varied musical journey to date, including being a member of the wonderfully named 'Famous Rondini Brothers', to playing and recording with singer songwriter, Keith James. Among his influences/favourite drummers are Dave Mattacks (Fairport Convention etc), Gary Husband (Level 42) and Ian Paice (Deep Purple). When not in the 'Mist' hot seat he can be found playing with the Rockin' Rogers, a band made up of well known musicians from the Guildford area

Surrender the Coast
Formed in late 2009, Surrender The Coast have quickly earned themselves the reputation of being one of the most exciting and popular acts to come out of Leicester in years. The six piece have been described as post hardcore, screamo, southern rock and alternative amongst other things, but the band would rather ditch labels and be described more simply as what they are: and that is six friends making noise and having fun doing so.
Their self funded debut release "Avert Your Eyes", released in July 2010, has received acclaim from sources far and wide, and the sales figures show no sign of slowing. But recording a CD is easy, where Surrender The Coast really shine is on stage. In the relatively short time the band have been together they have shown that they can compete with the best, having played with acts such as Shadows Chasing Ghosts, Yashin, Blakfish and Flood of Red to name a few, with shows supporting Memphis May Fire, Broadway and Evita still to come over the winter months. Energetic to the point of near collapse, but never compromising the quality of their sound, their live performance combines blistering guitar work with both aggressive and soaring vocals, against a back drop of driving, fill laden drums. In 2010 Surrender The Coast have shown what the new boys on the block are capable of. With a single and an album being written for release this coming Spring and with a tour of the UK planned to promote it, only one thing is certain: 2011 is going to be Surrender The Coast's year. http://www.myspace.com/surrenderthecoast
Sylvan Souls Sylvan Souls omit a refreshingly different sounding blend of funk, blues and rock and have been gigging like nobody’s business during their first year or two together. With the likes of old Chilli Peppers, Hendrix and The Black Keys ringing in their ears they have already gigged in iconic venues such as the Boileroom in Guildford, The Railway Inn in Winchester and many other bars and pubs around Basingstoke and Reading. Now regulars on BBC Introducing shows at Oakford Social Club in Reading, their top gig to date has been a sold out main support slot for Dr Feelgood at The Railway Inn. They make music for themselves that they genuinely enjoy and those funky basslines, hectic guitar riffs and soulful vocals appear to be going down quite nicely…http://www.myspace.com/sylvansouls
